Daryl Vaz, the Minister of Science, Energy, Communications, and Transport, announced in Parliament that his ministry will hand over 63 tablets to each member of Parliament. This initiative, which Minister Vaz says is executed through e-learning-Jamaica, is described as a strategic leap towards digital leadership and aims to put real-time information tools and powerful tools directly in the hands of lawmakers. This announcement was made in Minister Vaz’s contribution to the sectoral debate on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

Minister Vaz pointed out that he’s sure everybody already has their tablets and laptops, as he recalls that he has handed out tablets in recent years. However, these new devices are different because they are pre-loaded with access to all government ministries, departments, and agencies, along with essential apps to help MPs better serve their constituents and deliver government benefits.

According to Vaz, upon receiving their tablets, members of Parliament will have access to his full sectoral presentation, which will give them immediate access to the ministry’s vision, priorities, and policy direction.
